The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference voted earlier this month to authorize work stoppages against Canadian National and Canadian Pacific KC rail operators. Unless a labor agreement is reached before, strikes may occur as early as May 22nd. Shippers can expect container dwell times to increase sharply during affected days of the proposed stoppages. U.S. imports will be most heavily affected at inland destinations, delaying transit to large rail hubs such as Chicago, Kansas City, Detroit, and Indianapolis.
Importers are strongly encouraged to discuss routing and service options with their account representatives to avoid affected ports. OTS will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as it develops.
O.T.S. is committed to providing exceptional service and will continue to monitor these challenges as they develop. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your OTS Sales Representative with any questions.
